Jobs in Danville, CA: Who Hires and What It Pays

The Iron Horse Regional Trail under oak trees in Danville

Danville has no factory, no hospital and no corporate campus. Its jobs are in the places people use every day: a warehouse store, a fitness club, senior living homes, grocers, restaurants and the schools. Here is who hires in Danville, what the public pay figures say, and how to apply, using the Town of Danville’s own numbers.

The biggest employers in town

The town’s financial report for the year ending June 2025 lists its ten largest private employers, counted from business licenses:

  • Costco: 265 people, by far the largest. A year earlier the count was 435.
  • Bay Club Crow Canyon: 94, a fitness and tennis club.
  • Face Reality Acne Clinic: 67.
  • Brookdale Danville Diablo Road and Sunrise Assisted Living of Danville: 66 each, both senior living.
  • Danville Post Acute Rehabilitation: 57, a skilled nursing and rehab center.
  • Lunardi’s Market: 57.
  • Locanda Ravello (40) and Piatti (37), both restaurants.
  • Smart & Final and Walgreens: 35 each.

Together the top ten employ about 820 people. That is the shape of the Danville job market: many small and mid-sized employers, most of them customer-facing, and many offering part-time hours.

Senior living and care

Three of the top six employers care for older adults. Senior living homes hire caregivers, dining room servers, cooks, housekeepers and activity staff, and many of those jobs train you on site. The rehab center also needs licensed staff, and a Certified Nursing Assistant certificate is the usual first step. Programs nearby take weeks, not years. See our list of short certificates that lead to jobs.

Retail, grocery and restaurants

Costco, Lunardi’s, Smart & Final and Walgreens hire cashiers, stockers and department clerks, and the restaurants hire servers, hosts, line cooks and dishwashers. Lunardi’s clerk jobs are union jobs with UFCW Local 5, and its recent clerk postings asked for no experience. The bigger employers post on their own careers sites, so apply there rather than through a third-party site. California’s minimum wage is $16.90 an hour as of January 1, 2026, and our guide to checking whether your pay is fair shows how to compare an offer.

The schools

The San Ramon Valley Unified School District has its district office in Danville and hires for schools across Danville, Alamo and San Ramon. Most openings are not teaching jobs. Instructional assistant postings for the 2025-26 school year listed $20.88 to $27.95 an hour, part time, on a 9.5-month year. They ask for one of these: 48 semester college units, an associate degree or higher, or a passing score on a skills test. The district posts on EDJOIN, and our guide to school jobs walks through applying.

Part-time jobs with the Town of Danville

The town hires hourly staff for its recreation programs, parks and offices. Its published hourly ranges include:

  • Program Leader: $17.37 to $23.15 an hour.
  • Building Attendant and Police Aide: $17.37 to $28.95.
  • Program Assistant, Parks and Field Prep Worker and Parking Enforcement Officer: $18.52 to $30.68.
  • Clerical Assistant and Program Specialist: $20.84 to $32.41.

Recreation jobs are a common first job for students, and summer staff are usually hired in spring. The town posts its openings on CalOpps.

Getting there

Danville has no BART station. Most people drive I-680, and County Connection buses run through town. If you live in the San Ramon Valley that makes Danville a short trip, and if you do not, look at San Ramon and Walnut Creek too, which hire for many of the same jobs. Walnut Creek has our guide to part-time work.
