San Ramon, California
San Ramon is office country: a city built around business parks, where utilities, banking and tech companies sit a short drive from homes on both sides of I-680.
The largest employers here work in offices. The city’s 2025 financial report lists PG&E as its biggest employer by a wide margin, with BMO Bank, the software company Five9, Robert Half and Primed Management Consulting also in its top ten, and the Bishop Ranch business park is home to many of the city’s offices. That makes San Ramon one of the better places in the county to look for office, customer service, finance, IT and admin work.
Healthcare is the other anchor. San Ramon Regional Medical Center, a 123-bed hospital, employs more than 600 people. Diablo Valley College runs a second campus in the city on Watermill Road. There is no BART station in San Ramon, so getting to work here usually means I-680 or a bus.
